The Sun Hotel & Bar
This 17th century, luxury, boutique hotel is the only 4-star hotel in the centre of Lancaster, and is superbly situated in the heart of the city centre. The hotel was originally built in the 17th century and is the oldest bar/hotel still operating in Lancaster. With luxurious rooms and comfortable furnishings, the hotel is an ideal base for an upmarket stay in the city. An à la carte breakfast is included in the price, and is a tasty start to the day. The hotel is situated in the very centre of Lancaster, within yards of the castle and all the citys other attractions. St Martins College (University of Cumbria) and Lancaster University are both an easy commute from the hotel. The hotel regularly welcomes many visiting academics from both institutes.
Brief accommodation description
The building fell into decline in the 20th century and when C2 Original Inns bought the building in 2003 it was a simple bed and breakfast with a small, quiet bar downstairs. Since 2003, the building has been rebuilt from the foundations up, and now offers a stylish bar/meeting area on the ground floor, with 15 beautifully designed en suite rooms above.
