Originally known as The Nightingale House the Lodge played an essential role in Britains medical advances during the 18th century and the historic plaque in front of the building commemorates Florence Nightingales work. Other publicly listed features include the picturesque stained glass window at the top of the main staircase which overlooks the reception area where you can find Florence Nightingales own original bookcase from her time in the city.
