Arundel House Hotel
Arundel House Hotel is beautifully located across the road from the River Cam and open parkland. It is only a short walk across the park, Jesus Green, to the city centre and a wealth of architecture. The hotel, which is privately owned, has been formed from a terrace of particularly fine late 19th century Victorian houses. The facade and elegantly proportioned interiors have been carefully preserved, while still allowing the hotel to offer all of the modern services which discerning travellers now demand. All of the hotels 103 non-smoking bedrooms have private en suite facilities with either a bath, shower or a bath and shower, hand basin and WC. All rooms also have tea and coffee making facilities, colour television, radio, hairdryer and a direct dial telephone with an automatic wake-up alarm facility. Some of the accommodation is located in the coach house at the rear of the hotel. The hotel is well known for the friendly, welcoming and relaxed atmosphere of its bar, restaurant and conservatory. The restaurant and adjacent bar are both non-smoking. The restaurant has achieved a reputation for providing some of the best food in the area in glorious surroundings. All tastes are catered for, thanks to the several different menus on offer, all of which feature a wide range of imaginative dishes, freshly prepared in the hotels scrupulously clean award-winning kitchens. There is a table dhote menu, an elaborate and yet modestly priced a la carte menu, an entirely separate vegetarian menu and for younger visitors a childrens menu. The refreshing yellow, orange, gold and green colours with stylish and relaxing upholstered chairs add to the hotels elegance. Featuring a mixture of round and square tables, the crisp white and yellow linen and the oak dressers all decorated with eclectic artefacts create an air of contemporary elegance. However, the hotels restaurant is not expensive, hence its popularity with local residents and hotel guests alike. Although the restaurant can seat 85 people, it is divided into 3 separate areas, thereby creating a more intimate atmosphere. One section of the restaurant can be closed off for private parties, business luncheons and weddings, and in addition to all of the other menus, the hotel offers a wide range of specially designed lunch and dinner party menus and buffet menus.
